Tobacco and Nicotine Treatment

Quit Tobacco or Nicotine

The Tobacco Recovery Program at EMERGENCE offers individual and group counseling to persons looking to quit tobacco or nicotine. The program covers a variety of tobacco/nicotine use methods, including, but not limited to smoking, chewing, and e-cigarettes.

Program providers participate in Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training and offer services informed by current literature and research. EMERGENCE staff hold membership with the Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence (ATTUD) and the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT).

Participation in the program involves enrollment and carbon monoxide monitoring, as well as individual and/or group sessions. Topics of focus include exploring motivation to quit and stay quit, education on Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRT), creating a structured quit plan, identifying and managing triggers, designing a support system, developing new healthy practices, resources, the impact of tobacco and nicotine on the body, and relapse prevention planning.
